Returning Light
thoughts on the Winter Solstice
the taste of dark chocolate and peppermint lingers on the tongue,
equal parts faint reminders of a cool, crisp peace that once was, while also whispering promises of hope.
dance with me, darling, right here beneath the mistletoe. not because you love me madly, but because so badly we need to hold on to something that promises us a semblance of kindness in the new year.
today it is darkness, glimmers of a barely rising sun, but tomorrow it is snowy sparkles of daylight for one fraction of a second more.
